First Look at Ageha's Perfect Eye Make Book

Yeah... yeah. This mook didn't even take two weeks to get to me.

This is just a random preview on some of the pages that are in this mook~ unfortunately due to my schedule and lack of good hardware, I won't be making actual scans of this magazine.

When I first requested this mook from Kinokuniya I had to think to myself.. like, how more in depth can they get? Any reader of the Ageha-branded magazines would know that the issues already go super detailed as far as makeup points and whatnot.

As soon as I received it, however, I had to literally stop what I was doing.

If you too, think that they couldn't get any more in depth, just get this book and wait for it.

When you first open and flip through the first few pages, you'll see a few familiar faces, but one girl in particular shocked me-- Midori Fukasawa. If you don't know her, she's a very popular lolita model~ and she's in this magazine displaying some of her own makeup styles. So this book isn't only for the hime/gal audience, but general cute makeup for Japanese eyes.

Part of the book is split into 8 different parts-- "Gal", "Girly Girl/Gal", "Princess", "Foreigner", "Cat Eye", "Office Lady", "Akameji", and "Natural". It touches up on eyelid shaping (using fiber/eyelid glue/tape/etc), eyelining and different shadow looks, it breaks down lashes (like... legit having almost all the popular lash brands displayed so you can see how each of them look)... CIRCLE LENSES... like this book really, -really- goes in. If you're into trying out all the different eye shapes and whatnot, you will have fun with this seriously.

Since my images are not in order at all, I'm just going to post a spam~ There's not much for me to talk about since my Japanese is really limited and I haven't seriously observed every single picture and diagram in this book. But I'm telling you, it's amazing.

Ageha Makeup Book pre-order~

The moment I saw this on Tumblr, I knew I HAD to get it.

This is Ageha's "Perfect Eye Makeup Book" that was released in Japan on March 16th. An all-over Ageha special (meaning that it's not only Koakuma-Ageha, but Ane-Ageha as well) that focuses on finding your perfect eye makeup look. According to the modelpress press release, it will also include advice on things like dark circles/droopy eye bags, an actual eye chart, etc.

I'm curious about the content speaking that Ageha already goes pretty in-depth with their style tutorials, now it's like 'what more can you say???' but I'm excited to get this regardless.

People are hoping and praying for scans to go online but honestly you might as well get your own hardcopy! As far as I know, Kinokuniya does special orders for non-local residents and will ship items out to you. When I submitted my order request, they told me that the cost would estimate to around 11-12 dollars which is not bad at all, and while shipping costs will determine the final price, I doubt the book will be over 20 dollars... I wonder how much cheaper it would be to get magazines mail-ordered through them, vs. buying them from places like CD Japan.

People are calling this a 'mook' but I think it's an actual book. The Kino's rep had a bit of a hard time finding information on the book, and said that it was listed under books instead of magazines... if it was a magazine special like EGG's Beauty mag, it would be under the same section as their monthly's and their kimono specials. But either way, I am looking forward to this purchase~

February Purchases~

I barely purchased much during the month of February due to being sick... but I wanted to make a post anyways!

These are the few things I managed to snag during my free time:

March 2013 小悪魔Ageha and September 2012 EGG.

Usually I don't like buying EGG too much, but when I do, it's usually an older issue from one of the warmer months like April-Octoberish... I like their summer issues and the 'transitional' seasons the most, but winter tend to look really bland to me. Even more so, now that a lot of their regular looks are bland compared to earlier years.

This month Ageha was nice, a lot of outfits I'm taking inspiration to, but I'm sort of disliking the amount of photoshop that's being used on Sakurina these days :/ I understand that she's getting old, and she has the good ol' neck rolls and stuff, but for goodness sakes...
and of course, yet another makeup bag freebie that I'll eventually give away...

At some point during the month of February I ended going to the American International Toy Fair, a convention for businesses to trade products and showcase the upcoming toys.

I originally went there to get some San-X Rilakkuma things, like the monster Korilakkuma plush... I originally wanted to go the second-to-last day, but ended up going on the last day... at the very last minute, and missed my chance at it :c

It could've been so good, too! The plush was only $60!

Despite that, I lurked around and got a bunch of free stuff. Jelly Belly products.. some little My Little Pony trading card pack... two Disney Princess character packs (the smaller one was free~ the bigger one was only 5 dollars!), a 5 foot long stick of green apple bubble gum, and then this cute light-up turtle ; ~; It's really a baby product, but it lights up the ceiling with stars so I use it sometimes when I try to relax and go to sleep xD It's really nice

I also got more wedding books for reference...
I honestly don't know why I collect these anymore. I feel like I kind of fell out of love with the thought of Event Planning? I figure maybe I just need to challenge myself... I need to push myself and make a portfolio and apply for an internship someone, maybe.

I also tried to give into buying lip makeup products now! Which I did not such a good job at xD
I enjoy Nicka K as a brand, their lipsticks are nice and moisturizing... however all of their things have wayyy too much shimmer in them!

(L->R) Honey Buff, Glorious Pink, Stain Glow, and Power Plum.
I honestly didn't realize how shimmery everything is... it's a bit too much.. I was honestly looking for matte lip stuff this time around so I have no clue how I made a mistake like this xD; Now I need to look for matte sticks to go with these!

I also recently received a package from FromJapan, a Japanese shopping service, so I hope to make a review about my experience with them soon..
I hope to make a video soon~ work is becoming more tedious as people are dropping out the job like flies, and the work period is almost up.. and with Spring Break for public school kids and the last week approaching, my job is gonna get pretty crazy @ w@ I hope I can survive these last few weeks!

"The Wedding Album"

(mass wedding in Vietnam, 1990)

I've been buying a bunch of wedding books again. The deadline for all my work for my event planning and design courses are coming up in March! Time flies by so fast, and like always I never seem to make the most of it lol.

I found these books at Book-Off not too long ago, when I was trying to look for the Feb Ageha. (I was pretty lucky, apparently that was the very last copy of the issue in both Book-Off and Kinokuniya. It came with a free gift so I'm assuming that's why it sold out so fast e_e)

First one is The Wedding Album by Alice Harris. When I flipped through it I had to buy it, it's basically a picture book with different wedding dress fashion photography, from magazine shoots to runway snaps, from celebs to everyday people, from simple timeless moments to unforgettable, daring ceremonies to movie screencaps. Even though most of the dresses are white, it's still very rich in culture and shows examples from different times and in different parts of the world.

Some of my favorite examples:

Wedding photo of a newlywed couple, 1910.

Japanese wedding in Kyoto, 1961

This seems to be a regular couple, and the photo was taken in Denmark apparently, but holyyy crap at all the people! I thought it was a whole village in Africa or something @___@ that crowd looks freaking huge.

A wedding party in Harlem, 1983. I laughed to myself with this one, even before I read the credits I had a feeling. Not even with the background (Lenox Ave or something, I bet), but the attitude on that one bridesmaid's face. Harlemites have this certain swag and you can just tell lol.

An Indian wedding in London, 1992. Indian weddings will always be the most vibrant and extravagant celebrations of them all. In my opinion, anyways.

A couple travelling in Bosnia in 1995. There's something about the bride's expression in this photo...

Couple tightrope walking during their ceremony in France, 1954.

Absolute favorite picture out of this book, it's called "Future Expectations, 1926." I really love it,
especially the eerie look of the ghostly child by the fireplace.

Grace Kelly in 1956

There are even more photos of Muhammad Ali when he got married, Nelson Mandela guiding her daughter down the aisle.. past presidents, Marilyn Monroe, Cher, it goes on and on and on...

New cell, random trip to Big Gay~

Yesterday I went to the doctor for a quick check-up, then back to Party City to return the crap I had left over, got back 12 bucks. It's barely anything, but I'm glad I got it back - w- Part of it went back to my bank account, it hasn't shown up in my statement yet though... I want to be ghetto like LOL GIVE ME MY 4 DOLLARS PARTY CITY I AIN'T PLAYIN WITCHU

But hopefully it'll pop up xD

Stopped by the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck again ♥ Doug whipped me up something real nice~

This was SO GOOD. Pomegranate & Plum sauce on top of vanilla, with spicy peanut butter inside.

The peanut butter was much spicier than I expected, unlike the wasabi cone it was actually HOT @ w@ If there wasn't the ice cream with it, I probably would've had itchy burning gums for days~ the pomegranate + plum sauce was so good too. For some reason my mind kept thinking that the vanilla was cream cheese or something LOL. I think I'm too familiar with my usual cream-cheese + 'x' preserves on bread. Scrambling my brain

After that I headed uptown to Mei's place real quick, then browsed at BookOff and Kinokuniya until she got off work. Book-Off is always having David Tutera's books once in a while, but being so broke I decided not to get it :| ONE DAY (because I'm in no mood to buy the book at 25+ dollars regular price)

Got this old nail mag for $1 though~

Old 2008 mag, but still. It was a buck xD

I've been kind of thinking of visiting a nail salon to get my nails done again-- Some nice gel nails to hopefully last most of the summer. Sadly I don't have the money to shell out the money for the whole shebang, but if I manage to get a job in these coming weeks, it will be done. Most definitely. I'd probably go to Rio's house, have her do the gel work, then go to a salon and get the paint job done. I'd have Rio do everything, but I really love airbrushed nail designs, and I don't think Rio has one of those xD

This mag have a lot of more simple stuff compared to my NailMax that I've always had, but the designs are still cute, a lot of simple summery looks.

Speaking of nails, I was looking at this one chick's blog, and I really want this pink OPI polish. It's such a cute color ; w; and sparkly too

I was also looking at the new AGEHA, and the new EGG. The only time I really look at EGG is for maybe hair, and maybe an outfit or so. I don't like Egg's style too much compared to Ageha. I can't wait till that new magazine come out though, I forget the name but it's supposed to be a bunch of D.I.A.-ish styles? hopefully Kino's will stock up on those.

I always wanted to go lighter somehow, but I'm never really decisive and I end up not doing anything. I don't want to go full blond, but I want to try some touches, some highlights, -something-. Maybe an irregular color like pink or something? Again, this is one of my goals if I end up getting a job this summer xD

Went to Mei's house when she got off, where she finally gave me her old Sanyo phone for T-Mobile. I was gonna buy this, but since she never used it she gave it to me instead. One of these days I'll actually turn this sucker on, and get that unlimited monthly prepaid call/texts. Once and for all E___E no more of this b.s. Tracfone mess. Though I'll still have my Tracfone for business purposes. While it has no minutes on there, the service will stay on all the way to 2014 (that shows how many times I've recharged it with minutes).

It's all... nice and pink and shit ; o; LOL
I really want to deco it.. Mei says to sweets deco, and I was thinking sweets deco too, but I'm not sure how I'll be able to hold the phone if I cover the back in whipped cream and shit LOL. So I dunno. Might just go with rhinestones and try to clusterfuck them (maybe initials on the back? gotta think on ittt)

Once I turn it on and decorate it, I can finally put on my new phone charms and stuff e_e that's been sitting in my drawer since I got them.

Also opened a new taobao order (did I note this in my last entry?). I don't know why I still shop when I barely get anything for allowance...
so uh, dat job lolo
