Kawaii International Ep #10

I didn't expect my image to pop up in the 10th Kawaii International Episode at all-- I had no knowledge of it until I suddenly got the e-mail from NHK the night before, asking me to support xD Like WUT WHAT'S GOING ON?

Since it was so last minute and I was booked that weekend, I missed the airing... I managed to catch the episode via Youtube, though it was all choppy stuff. But then Kawaii International was kind enough to send me a disc copy!

Everyone else who had watched it was telling me "omg you're gonna have feels amber" "there was this one shop girl that said something really sweet you're gonna cry", and I was sitting here like WHAT. So when I got a hold of the video I fast-forwarded right to that part.

(right-click and open in New Tab for full-size)

...Yeah, I almost cried. Though it was more of a shriek and dying inside - kind of cry, hah. But there was something so heartfelt about her comment towards me, it really made me feel really good. Like REALLY, really good.

When I first entered the contest I didn't like the outfit at all (I still don't LOL) but the fact that Ayano saw all these special little details in spite of it being a lolita dress blew my mind. I didn't like the shoes at the time (I've modded them since-- still didn't make a post about it yet = w=) but she still liked them and she payed attention to the little things like the nails and hair and they called it simplistically cute. And that landed me in 1st place. I remember screaming when I first heard from friends, and then when I saw it for myself.

So seeing someone, especially from outside the hime/lolita fashion complimenting me and my makeup and stuff makes me feel so good. It's not even like "omglol nipponpplz called me kawaii", but having them see my look and compliment it and point out the little details... it's a really good feeling, especially for the bit of extra elbow grease I'd have to give out to dress up due to importing and being taller and thicker than what the brands' market's norm is.

I have no doubt in my mind that one day it'll happen again. And I can't wait. ♥

Shown on Kawaii International again....

Last night I got this e-mail in my inbox...

And I'm sitting here like hhhhhhhh are you serious???

I freaked out because they took my picture and showed it around Tokyo! My picture that I felt was so badly coordinated (couldn't they just get a new one? bloo ; o;)

But of course it was a good freak-out~ I wasn't mad or anything xD;

I'm really disappointed though.. I wish they told me -before- it first aired :c I didn't even know that was going on and because of my work schedule, I ended up completely missing all the airings...

I had friends who told me that some shopgirl said something really sweet about me, and that I'd cry when I would see it. But of course at the moment that's not happening...

I tried contacting the team to see if they could let me see it somehow but, did anyone catch it???? What did they say about me? Did anyone record it and re-upload it?

; w; I'm like dying here...

Kawaii International recording~ 1/10/13-1/21/2013

I was invited to be a part of a recording for NHK Kawaii International~ since I was the grand prize winner for their hime contest last year, they contacted me to be a guest on their show via Skype chat! It was very difficult to get it all in order, but at the end it turned out to be a very good recording :3

Since I run the local NYC Lolitas group on facebook and livejournal, they asked me if I can gather a handful of my friends for the recording as well~ it was difficult because it required people to stay up all night on a weekday-- but somehow we were able to get enough people, and we managed to stay up through a 7-hour, latenight recording! Craziness!

A week or so before the actual recording, we gathered near 42nd street to record outfit shots and introductions~ luckily one of the girls had a college friend who was a videographer, who was willing to give us some pretty awesome videos for our intro!

My OOTD real quick:

Headbow: Baby the Stars Shine Bright, JSK: Innocent World, Cardigan: Liz Lisa, jewelry and stuff you'll see later on. Coat (not seen): Angelic Pretty~

Some shots from some of our videos that I screencapped~

Jovon and Lexie during filming ~This was actually two shots, the second being part of Lexie's full body coord shot, but it's so interesting how this came out when I uploaded it xD haa

Yaniseee

Myself....

...And myself reacting to my derp LOL

Laura derpin' like a qt~

A shot of us taking strolling shots~

I had this idea to get our pictures on the billboard for it but it didn't come out as we expected, plus we had to wait an extra long time in the cold for it to even pop up on the screen. The photo was still super cute though! Just wouldn't do it again.

Group shot!

And more camwhoring sessions:

Susan and Yani~

burand shots

Laura and Nina~

The billboard shot when it did pop up... we expected it to be fullscreen...

Some last candid shots in Times Square....

Afterwards we walked Midtown East to my favorite spot Izakaya Riki for some beer, curry, and okonomi goodness

I think we were all too hungry at that point for any good foodnom shots lol.

Then maybe 10 days later was the actual Skype recording~
NHK graciously provided us with a studio to film in, with a recording crew to assist us and providing us with multiple laptops to Skype with, and a camera in case any connection problems occured.

My camwhore shots off my camera~

Outfit rundown:
Bow: Angelic Pretty, OP was the LaPafait OP I won, Denim Jacket: Yumetenbo, Necklace Jesus Diamante, Tights were from F21, and the shoes I modded myself! I'll have a post about that specifically in a bit...

The last of my camho shots~

That bathroom... was perfect. LOL In every way.

Since we were in there for almost 7 hours... they also provided us with a lot of good ; w;  In between tests and stuff we were running around, doing hair, doing makeup, and then sitting, eating, being silly.
There were a couple of times when they were doing video/audio tests and left us on the screen...
the producer and director of the show were sitting in the hosts seats chilling and all you saw was us... on the TV screen behind them.... doing Gangnam style and dancing to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu LOL

They didn't notice at all... until minutes later someone pointed us out to them and they turned and looked like wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut the hell is going on lololo
I wish we had video of that xD Man oh man..

lol Laura and Yani

LOL Susan

At this point we were staring at the screen while the Japanese were practicing their segments...

You can probably recognize Moco, I think Re:No? and whomever else.

Our main idol focus was with Himena Ousaki!!! We were dying inside.
Originally it was going to be Himena and Midori Fukasawa as Hime(gyaru) and lolita model representatives, respectively, but then Midori dropped out suddenly and so it was only Himena ; u; but we still had our fill of cuteness.

At that time she couldn't see us, even though we could see her. Eventually it was revealed to us that we were a "surprise" to the models who were there!

I won't go into detail about the filming and what was said... but I wasn't too nervous talking to/about Himena. I was more nervous about the fact that I was being recorded!

I derped and I messed up once... and I covered my face in embarrassment and Himena was just sitting there giggling ; u; but then she also had her derpy times and we were just sort of laughing at each other's mistakes~
I wish we had more time to ask questions, because of time we didn't follow the script to the T, but it was so good to be able to talk to Himena, as well as the other models.

EGG model Yun was there representing gyaru, but there was also a French gal group that focused on her. Also Pikarin, but she was mainly talking about her new music and stuff.

After filming was done, the Kawaii.i team did a little something for us and brought their laptop to Himena so we were seeing her and interacting with her on Skype!!! We totally freaked. Like a box of kittens were dumped all over us.

Death by kawaii.

Kawaii Int'l prize GET!

So Saturday I finally recieved my La Parfait onepiece, the grand prize I recieved for winning the Kawaii International hime coord contest. ♥♥♥♥
 In the back of my mind, I'm still like "how...?"

But anyways, I was super stressed because the package dude didn't even bother ringing the doorbell that Thursday when it came, just left a "Sorry we missed you!" note. I ended up working the whole week up to Saturday so I didn't have any time to pick it up. Eventually our regular mailguy dropped it off Saturday morning before I went to my tea party.

So many feels, guys. ♥

The actual dress. (maybe I should've shooped some sparkles and puri into this pic?)

I'm actually plesantly surprised by La Parfait's quality! I remember when I first got into gal, and I was all about that himegal, I always favored Jesus Diamante over La Parfait. La Parfait always had this really frumpy look about it, and from the images their quality seemed much cheaper than Jesus Diamante or any lolita brand so I never paid much attention to it. Eventually I did develop this secret love for tacky lace and the OTT aspect of himedeco, but even then, I never had a habit of actually watching their site and their trends that much.

Seeing this dress in person made me think again about my original opinion of the brand. The lace isnt bad, the construction is pretty good-- the dress is fully lined, and had a little elastic on the top in the back. It's actually a halter too~ so it has these light straps attached in the front. So despite seeing a lot of their frumpy stuff, I really love the design of this. I guess it's because it reminds me a lot of Jesus Diamante as well?

So you know, me being excited, I tried it on real quick to see how it is... and it's almost perfect. -almost-.

(Excuse the messy hair~)

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
 I'm assuming that on Ayano and people, this was supposed to flow freely maybe? I have no clue, but it frames my body PERFECTLY. I mean it happily slips over my waist, my hips, with no problem at all! It seems like a really short dress, but it's enough length to cover my butt and bend over a bit. It could've been perfect....
If not for the boob area.
I don't know how this could've possible been bombed, and then I remember that naturally, Japanese girls have really small breasts xD Really small. So the bust on this thing is for someone with some serious mosquito bites.
 You see in the image that it actually dips in the bust area-- no matter how I 'arrange' myself, it just doesn't want to cooperate with my D-cups ; o; It sucks.
But! I did surprise me. If not for the bust area this would've been absolutely perfect, which is a surprise for me, having messed around with different brands for a while. I'd definitely buy La Parfait clothing in the future if I knew the bust was fixed for someone like me.
Slipped into my heart heels for a full-body shot.
 What I might end up doing is having my friend alter it so it will fit my bust better~ because I'm not planning on selling this ever xD It's too cute! But in the meantime I also plan to cover up the derp with cardigans and whatnot. It's so freaking cute, I can't even. Hopefully the weather won't turn too cold~ I plan to wear this out soon! ♥
